Belief and The Law of Attraction By Ray Dodd Almost everyone has a personal goal they are sure would make their life better. Lose weight, make more money, travel, reach your goals, be happier or just create a healthier life style. To break out of long-standing unwanted habits takes action. But what if action isn’t enough? Are hidden limiting beliefs the real reason reaching your goals haven’t succeeded in the past? To comprehend how powerful core beliefs can be in creating new action for change, it helps to understand the true nature of belief. Beliefs are not solely a product of our thinking; in fact, they often animate our thinking. Belief is so much more than what we think is true. Belief will always trump what we’d like to think is true. What we believe is the result of all the long-forgotten oaths and promises we’ve made with ourselves and affects all that we are –emotion, mind, body and consciousness - not just our thoughts. Belief is created through a holistic process, and so re-creating belief requires more than
new thinking or different action. Changing behavior and making those changes stick; demands that we modify the beliefs and agreements that drive our behavior at its deepest level. What is true today and what we’d like to change tomorrow is deeply affected by the law of attraction. What we choose, what we say, where we look for evidence to support our point of view, and what we defend, puts out an energy that brings more of the same. To get a new habit to stick, and not run out of steam, takes changing what you believe. Creating a successful change may require, in addition to new actions, discovering the underlying beliefs that propel your behavior. What needs to be modified may not be obvious. What is at the surface, and appears to be the problem, may not be the real problem at all. To illustrate: A friend of our wanted a new job. She used all the steps to harness the law of attraction and just before Thanksgiving got 5 job offers! She called last week and was miserable. Already she feels stressed and out of place in her new position. In fact, the complaints she had about her new job sound a lot like the complaints she had about her last job….and come to think about it, the one before that! She successfully used the law of attraction – but in fact created and attracted something that aligned perfectly with what she believes about herself and the world around her. New characters and location but the same old script. When creating new life changing resolutions, start by identifying and re-working the hidden beliefs that drive the habits or situations you want to change. Working directly with those personal agreements rather than simply taking different action, will result in new way of being that is sustainable for this year and many years to come.
